Cloud Services in Mexico

Cloud services are key to unlocking growth opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), increasing innovation, reducing the digital divide, lowering public spending, and improving government services. Data localization laws, broadband connectivity, and data hosting services, among others, are some of the supply and demand enablers that can help the market achieve this.

In Mexico, internet users have grown exponentially in recent years. Yet, Mexico has never invested enough in telecommunications to have a state-of-the-art network. Services are still not affordable for all, and digital literacy, as well as network availability (coverage), could be improved. In addition, internet adoption remains very uneven, both among businesses of different sizes and across regions.

The fast-growing startup ecosystem, the increasing number of graduate engineers, the construction of data centers, and challenges in the energy sector force us to analyze clear pathways to increase cloud services in Mexico as enablers of inclusiveness, innovation, and growth.

โ€œMexico Powered by the Cloud:
Inclusivity, Innovation and Growthโ€

Digitalization of the economy is a widespread phenomenon in Mexico. As the economy becomes more digital, so will the adoption of cloud services become more widespread. Mexican governments at all levels โ€“ federal, state, and municipal โ€“ can play an important role in further spurring the use of cloud computing, which has benefits for all.
