Bridge 49

Bridge 49 is a program in which we work with business leaders and companies on both sides of the border.

These companies are committed to the development and welfare of Mexico and the United States. They also participate in the strategy of the U.S.-Mexico Foundation, and collaborate with us to design high impact programs in economic, migratory and security matters.

On June 19, 2019, the US-Mexico Foundation, Meridian International and 3M, organized a breakfast with Minister Jorge Alvarez, Representative of the Ministry of Finance at the Embassy of Mexico and Mr. Emilio Cadena, President and CEO of Grupo Prodensa.

The USMCA is of vital importance for the three North American countries and the commercial relations between them; especially since Mexico has established itself as the main trading partner of the United States, surpassing China. The USMCA is essential to reassure Mexican citizens and investors of the country's economic stability.

A few days after this meeting, it was reported that Mexico became the first country to approve the New Agreement. The vote passed 114-4 in the Mexican Senate. Now, the rest of the world waits as the focus shifts to the United States and Canada to approve the free trade agreement. Undoubtedly, the USA and Mexico play an instrumental role in each other's economies. This is because they have approximately $ $1.7 billion in products that cross the border between the two countries on a daily basis.

It is critical that this type of meeting be held in order to discuss and understand the different points of view on the economic and commercial environment between Mexico and the United States.
