El Sueño Mexicano | Launch Event

El Sueño Mexicano (Mexican Dream) is a unique binational initiative which seeks to empower indigenous-owned and operated small business based in indigenous communities in México, to reach their maximum potential by developing and improving their production process, marketing, and administrative strategies; through a four week long, expenses paid, Mexican American university students serve as consultants in their areas of speciality to these indigenous-origin businesses.

In the 2018 project, 25 students are participating, who will develop their projects in the following six states of the Mexican Republic: Campeche, Chiapas, Oaxaca, Puebla, Quintana Roo and Yucatán.

At a press conference held in the building of the Secretary of Foreign Affairs (SRE) in Mexico City, Roberto Serrano Altamirano, General Director of the CDI, explained how the brand Indigenous Paraísos was born - nature tourism centers managed by the own communities. 

Rebeca Vargas, President & CEO of the USMF talked about the importance of reconnecting young people with Mexican roots to their country of origin.
