Statement of Purpose
Juanacatlán Renace is a collective initiative that promotes local development and community cohesion by strengthening civic participation while working in collaboration with local and state governments. Since 2007, Juanacatlán Renace has engaged the support of migrants in Chicago who, together with the University of Illinois, has helped to undertake a survey to identify and to address community needs in Juanacatlán, Jalisco. Award funds were granted to Necahual México AC, a local non-profit that is part of the Juanacatlán Renace effort.  Necahual’s mission is to build skills in children and young people in vulnerable circumstances in need of education, lack of recreational and leisure areas or have no access to cultural and artistic activities. Necahual México A.C. aims to maximize the potential of children in Jalisco for a decent life, and independence and self-sufficiency for children in vulnerable conditions.
